The Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum (WAAAM), WA
Nestled
in the Hood River valley along the Columbia river you will
find the opportunity to step back in time and see life as
it was in the era of early flight and transportation. The
Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum (WAAAM) is a living museum dedicated to preserving transportation's
golden past. WAAAM honors the memory of early aviators from
the first and second war, barnstormers, air mail and early
transportation.
The Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum is one
of the nations largest collections of flying Antique Aero
planes or Airplanes and operating antique Automobiles. Our
flying fleet of aircraft include a 1917 Curtiss Jenny JN4D,
along with aircraft from many manufactures of the early days
of flying including Waco, Davis, Curtiss Wright, Travel Air,
Piper, Taylorcraft, Spartan, Buhl, Ryan, American Eagle, Lincoln,
Arrow, and many more. Our antique cars vary from a 1914 Ford
Model T Depot Hack to Model A's, early Dodge, Mercury, and
Studebaker vehicles. WAAAM also has a large display of military
Jeeps, Weapons, and other Tools of War.
The
Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum (WAAAM)
was established in 2006. This museum's collection dates back
to the early years of flying and driving. Man has dreamed
of flying since the beginning of time. WAAAM is dedicated
to keeping that dream alive as well as educating and entertaining
our visitors. Rare antique aircraft and cars are continuously
being operated in view of the visitors. A vast selection of
exhibits will educate and hopefully inspire our visitors to
learn more as well as continue the American spirit of reaching
out further in the realms of flight and travel.
WAAAM is proud to have the largest known collection of flying
3 cylinder radial engine aircraft. Within the next year we
hope to have the largest collection of flying OX-5 Aircraft.
We currently have 5 flying with one more being restored in
the next year. One of our OX-5 flying aircraft is a very rare
and very original 1917 Curtiss JN4D Jenny serial #001. This
museum fleet includes many other flying antique aircraft making
it one of the largest flying in the world today. This museum
also brings a very unique and rare collection of other Aircraft,
Automobiles, Propellers, Aircraft Engines, Aircraft Instruments,
Military Jeeps, Tools of War and other interesting artifacts.
