Multnomah Falls, OR

Plummeting 620 feet from its origins on Larch Mountain, Multnomah Falls is the second highest year-round waterfall in the nation. Here, all your senses will come alive as you experience the sights and sounds of these magnificent falls.

At the base of the falls lays historic Multnomah Falls Lodge. Built in 1925 the lodge provides fine northwest cuisine with a panoramic view from your table.

Hike the trails...

...for a closer look at the falls or a walk in the woods. Follow the Larch Mountain trail 1/4 mile to the historic Benson arch bridge. From there, the top of the falls is just one mile further (this is fairly steep, though!). The truly hardy may want to continue on the Larch Mountain trail to the top (six miles), where you'll be rewarded with a spectacular view of the Cascade Mountains and the Columbia River Gorge. Free trail maps are available at the Visitors center. For the more serious hikers, there are more detailed maps that can be purchased.

To get to the Historic Columbia River Scenic Highway simply head through historic downtown Troutdale.

The winding road will deliver you to Multnomah Falls but on the way you will be captivated by breathtaking views of the Columbia River Gorge. Some sites to stop and see along the way include, the Vista House at Crown Point and Many other waterfalls and view points.

Multnomah Falls is the secon highest year-round waterfall in the nation. The water of the Falls drops 620 feet from its origin on Larch Mountain. Unusually cold weather can turn this plummeting falls into a frozen icicle, with a few drops falling from the bottom. The frozen Falls are a sight to behold.

To complete your perfect day of hiking the numerous paths located at and around Multnomah Falls or just enjoying the view, you can relax and dine at the Multnomah Falls Lodge . We serve fine food with a magnificent  view of the Falls. The lodge was built in 1925 by A.E. Doyle, and is designed with stones. The lodge offers visitors a place to relax and take in some refreshments, and to rest the legs from the miles of hiking paths that surround the Multnomah Falls National Scenic Area.
