The ANZAC Tea Parlour, ORThe ANZAC Tea Parlour is located in the historic home of
Ben Snipes (1835 – 1906), the “Northwest Cattle
King.” By 1864, In 2004 Alan and Bev Eagy converted the Snipes home into the ANZAC Tea Parlour, complete with its own commercial kitchen. Bev lived in Sydney, Australia for 20 years before moving back to America. She started selling ANZAC biscuits (cookies), famous for their unique flavor from ingredients Bev imported from Australia. “ANZAC” is an acronym for “Australia-New Zealand Army Corps,” as these biscuits were famously made and shipped to the Aussie soldiers during World War I. The ANZAC name stuck when the Eagy’s opened the Tea Parlour.
The Parlour serves traditional High Tea, complete with Scones & Devonshire Cream and Jam, and offers over 100 varieties of imported tea from the world over. A full lunch menu is available, including baked-from-scratch delicacies such as sun-dried tomato quiche and Sydney custard tarts. Daily varieties of melt-in-your-mouth scones include lemon zest, black raspberry/chocolate, and marionberry. Hungry patrons will enjoy the hearty meat pie, Thai red curry soup w/Shrimp, or the signature chicken almond tea sandwiches. In addition to the full lunch menu, the Parlour also features tea-related gifts, including fancy vintage hats, teacups and teapots, and teapot jewelry. Gift certificates are available in any amount.
The Parlour offers unique wedding cakes and other specialty cakes made-to-order. Bev teaches frequent evening cooking classes in the commercial kitchen, including Pavlova, Scones and Tea Sandwiches, Australian Trifle, Lamingtons, Crème Brulee, Aussie Meat Pies, and the Award-Winning Sydney Custard Tart.
